A farming community in Ethiopia is confronted with existential questions when the body of a family patriarch mysteriously disappears from his grave. Beza Hailu Lemma’s deeply moving drama explores the consequences.

BEZA HAILU LEMMA is an Ethiopian filmmaker based in Addis Ababa. He is the writer, director and independent producer of a number of short films, including BALLAD OF THE SPIRITS (2017) and KATANGA NATION (2022), which screened in competition at Visions du Réel and at INPUT in Taipei. Beza Hailu Lemma is an alumnus of Bundanon in Australia (2017) and the Realness Screenwriting Residency (2019). He has also participated in Berlinale Talents and TIFF Filmmakers Lab, as well as L’atelier in Cannes and Produire au Sud.
