Through a series of reconstructed scenes, this experimental short documentary traces the aesthetics and dynamics of the transit space of Ceuta, a Spanish enclave located in northern Africa on the Strait of Gibraltar, where Maroufi’s father had worked as a customs officer.

BIOGRAPHY

RANDA MAROUFI, born in 1987 in Casablanca, currently lives and works in Paris. Maroufi is a graduate of the National Institute of Fine Arts, Tetouan, Morocco (2010) and the School of Fine Arts, Angers, France (2013). She also obtained a diploma from Le Fresnoy – Studio National des Arts Contemporains, Tourcoing, France (2015). Randa Maroufi was an artistic member of the Académie de France in Madrid at Casa de Velázquez from 2017 to 2018. She works as a filmmaker and visual artist and has most recently had works at the Biennale de Lyon (2022), Museo de Reina Sofía, Spain (2021) and the New Museum, NY (2020).
