The panel discussion ANCIENT VISIONS OF THE FUTURE seeks to deepen the understanding of Afrofuturism and visions of the African continent and its diaspora and the power that lies within. In addition, multi-dimensional perspectives will be discussed with the curators of the programme and other filmmakers.
KANTARAMA GAHIGIRI
is an artist and filmmaker from Rwanda. Alumna of the Realness Residency, La Fabrique and Q21 in Vienna, she explores identity, sovereignty and representation on screen.
MAISHA MAENE
is a Congolese screenwriter and director based in Goma, DR Congo. As an artist, he is concerned with issues of human rights and the environment. In addition to various collaborative projects, Maisha has made five short films – his latest production MULIKA will be presented on 17 Nov as part of the programme “AFRIKAMERA SHORTS: UTOPIAS / DYSTOPIAS”.
FRADIQUE
is an Angolan filmmaker known for “Air Conditioner” (2020). He is a Science New Wave and Film Independent member, curates the Africa Film Festival Cologne and recently joined the Berlinale Panorama Advisory Committee.
ADYAM TESFAMARIAM
is a DJ, empowerment & diversity trainer and Afrofuturism expert. Since 2018, she has been researching and facilitating workshops and talks on Afrofuturism. In doing so, she combines her passion for writing and interweaving the past, present and future of black/African identities.
