The coming-of-age film by award-winning South African director Jahmil X.T. Qubeka focuses on a young girl from the rough neighborhood of East London, whose life has never been the same since the death of her sister Anathi. On the last day of school, she and three friends go on a road trip that will change their lives: they steal a taxi and drive to the remote landmark “Hole in the Wall” on the Wild Coast, where, according to Xhosa legend, you can talk to the dead. Along the way, they meet an eloquent desperado wanted by the police and an old woman who convinces them to try a hallucinogenic drug. Accompanied by the menacing black guard dog Verwoerd, they are confronted with their deepest fears and demons… Jahmil X.T. Qubeka’s fifth film is an homage to American teen movies of the 80s.
